My husband our dog and I, are living in a country (Switzerland) where people are looking out behind their window curtain just to see what we do and if we do anything wrong just to tell the landlord/admin or police…We are a young couple, nice and helpful neighbors, good citizens.
We just received a letter from our landlord admin dept. saying a bunch of things about our dog, such as that they have seen us not having our dog on the leash (at night) , that she is depositing her waste around, etc etc and none of this is true, in fact we never go out at night and everytime we go out we carry doggie bags all the time and in our semi-private garden (that is a shared garden) we clean up as soon as she is done. We even water the grass so it doesn’t stink or get dry.
I just cannot believe this, I cannot understand why are people so mean and I cannot think of anything to say now…Maybe now I am just frustrated and I should just ignore this letter, but I cannot and I must reply… S.O.S

OK i cannot put everyone in a box, there is also very nice people here (very few), but the problem of Switzerland especifically is that people are extremely controlled, in every way!!!And there is also a high amount of population living of their pensions and doing nothing, so they need to find the trouble where there isn’t any, then you add the fact that it is a very small country, imagine the whole country as a huge village..so the controlled become freaked out controllers, I have been here 1.5 yrs and honestly I see or hear things sometimes.. I just have to count to 10..last but not least, most people here just HATE foreigners..period. so, I guess the outcome is that i leave the letter business to my Swiss husband, then we buy a place of our own (already looking around..TY, and Roger F. IS a role model human, btw he just won a match at US open!
What do you think about picking up the dog poop and putting it in plastic bag, is it environmentally friendly?

Plastic bags take over 30 years to degrade. Is it wise to pick it up and put in a plastic bag? And then put it in a bin. Also it fills our landfills, while it would self absorb itself in the ground naturally. I also don’t like to see poop on the pavement but if the poop is in the bushes does it bother you, and why? Would you as a dog owner run through thick bushes just to pick your dogs poop. Even if you could get hurt as you slip etc.? Are there areas/places, where you think it would be ok to leave the poop? Another thing is if dog owners are to be penalized for not picking their dog’s poop, should not also all people littering be penalized for leaving behind a mess. I see candy wrappers, empty crisps bags, coke cans, bottles and other litter lying about all the time, noone bothers about that. Is it fair?
I know about the diseases etc, however, so do wild animals carry diseases and poop around, does it mean we are going to pick up after rabbits and foxes, wolves, bears and deer etc.? Noone does that, poop is natural fertilizer and it is here to stay. If you bag it or not, I don’t like to see it in public places and private property, that is understandable but places like in forest, wilderness, places people and kids don’t go. Shouldn’t there be places where dogs poop etc and places where kids play – where dogs would not be allowed?
Please, I don’t even have a dog, don’t talk to me like I do. When I get a dog I will clean up after it. I’m just saying the environment is being damaged even more by picking it up and putting it in bags, there’s other animals poop is not picked up after. They should be other solutions for this problem. Don’t attack me I am not a dog owner. Thanks.
What do you use for flea control on a pregnant dog?

The advantage brand says not to use on pregnant or nursing dogs. The flea shampoo also has a similar warning. My doggie has a few fleas but not that many…and i dont want to damage the puppies!

What kind of bags should I use to clean out my cat’s litter box?

I usually use plastic grocery bags to clean out my litter box, ( I scoop the clumps into a bag and throw it into the garbage) but I was wondering if there was a more environmentally friendly bags available to put the clumps into. I don’t want to put them directly into the garbage for smell reason, and I use a clay litter, which could mess up my plumbing if flushed. Do dog waste bags work?

I’m mortified to hear that so many dog owners pick up their doggie doo n a plastic bag and throw bag into a garbage can. This seems like standard practice here. (I live in Vancouver, BC Canada).
Surely there is a more environmental solution for this. My questions:
1) Isn’t it better for the environment to simply leave the dog poo. Doesn’t this provide nutrients for plants? Aside from the obvious, I mean stepping in crap, which is annoying of course.
2) Can’t there be a simplier solution, like have a special trough that dogs go into, near parks, with something that breaks down the the dog’s waste into something more useful.
3) Potentially, could all the dog waste be made into something useful like fuel, or fertilizer if collected properly.
Is it safe to reapply Frontline flea control on my cat?

I have 2 cats. Usually we use Advantage for 30 days+ with no problems, but the pet shop was out last time. We bought Frontline and applied it. For 2 weeks the cats were fine, but now the fleas are back and worse than ever. I have 1 tube of Frontline left, and I’m wondering if I should split it between the cats, for at least some relief, and wait 2 weeks to apply Advantage, or if I should just apply Advantage now. I desperately need an answer– these fleas are getting to me, too!
Siberian husky problems?

Recently me and my boyfriend bought a beautiful siberian husky. I was reluctant to this buy as we are first time dog owners and after researching this breed i found that they may be cute but at times they can be alot to handle!! We were looking for a pup, but an oppurtunity arose close to home and we bought evie, she is 1 years old. She is excellent towards other dogs and when we first got her she loved to play.
Lately there has been a drastic change in her behaviour. She has grown accustomed to picking up litter and waste off the floor ( such as used dog poop bags, sanitary towels) she will eat pretty much anything she can get her teeth into, although we reprimand her heavily for this she continues. She is hardly eating any food, maybe a small bowl at the most, we have changed her food countless times and still this is no better. We have recently had her wormed so we know this is causing no problems. As for her behaviour towards other people, this is becoming a problem. She has become very protective over my boyfriend, if i touch him she howls and is always there to seperate us!! This is not what i am worried about, as she is slowly becoming aggressive towards any other members of the family who touch my boyfriend. She has snapped at his brother and his mother. Sometimes for nothing at all. E.G evie was lay on the couch maybe two weeks ago and my boyfriends brother touched the back of the couch and the dog went completely crazy, snarling and she jumped up and tried to snap at his face. Another incident not so long ago.. i was visiting my niece who is two years old at my families house, we kept evie on her leash at first as i wasn’t quite sure how she would react to a small child ( although evie was brought up in a house with six children) i hope you don’t think this is cruel, but due to her behaviour lately i felt that if anything did happen i would be able to control her more quickly and efficiently. We kept visiting my families house and slowly but surely she seemed to have settled so we let her off her leash. The first couple of times was fine, but one night my niece was falling asleep on the chair, evie walked up to the chair and barked which startled me as i don’t think i have ever heard her bark before! I moved the dog away from the chair and picked up my niece evie began to snarl, i shouted my boyfriend but before he could get into the room evie jumped up at me and began snapping at my nieces hands, luckily the situation was defused before anyone got hurt. We put the dog in the back garden while i put my niece in bed.
This situation has un-nerved me. I am really worried about evie as i know she is a good dog but am unsure whether i will be able to keep her if i don’t get help with this behaviour.
It is strange because she isn’t aggressive all the time…it just seems irratic….i just don’t understand!! please help!! as i really dont want to rehome her. We exercise her everyday for at least an hour on a field close to home, she is taken on a short walk in the morning and at night also….although she pulls on the lead she is great most of the time!!

Canidae Dog Food.how much should i get? (and any info!)?

Ok I have 2 Chihuahua’s puppies (almost 6 months) and I wanna switch them to Canidae! I here its like the Best food there is! Well the formula I wanna feed them…. Chicken and rice…..They come in 33 lbs (wayyyy to much for mine! lol) 16.5 pounds and 6.6 pounds!
My question is….My dogs have to have 248 oz of food a month. 1/2 cup/day each! (im a math and science nerd!) anyways….and the 16.5 pound one is just enough at 264 oz…..but the 6.6 oz is only 105.6 oz. Ive heard that if you keep food for them too long, they wont eat it anymore……soo….i was wondering which one should i get? the 16.5 lbs bag for the whold month or the 6.6 pund bag 2-3 times a month???…..its alot cheaper to get the 16.5 lbs bag….but if my dogs wont eat it, it would be money wasted anyways….
so which should i do??? 16.5 lbs or 6.6lbs???
