What is the most eco-friendly way to dispose of pet waste?

I have a Great Dane and she poops allot. I feel guilty throwing away so many bags of poo a day that I know will just end up in a landfill. I was told using a pet waste digestion system would be best but does it work during winter months? Are there any suggestions for disposing my dog’s waste safely?

Pet waste disposal – Please only serious answers?

What is the most environmentally friendly way of disposing of my dog’s waste. I am currently scooping it up and disposing of it in the garbage. Texas’ water supply is precious, so I don’t want to water it down (sometimes this is not so easy) and other times, I don’t get to it when it’s “fresh” and would breakdown easily. However, my current way is just sending it to the landfill along with the plastic bag it’s in. – Please help.
