dog waste bags

I’m mortified to hear that so many dog owners pick up their doggie doo n a plastic bag and throw bag into a garbage can. This seems like standard practice here. (I live in Vancouver, BC Canada).

Surely there is a more environmental solution for this. My questions:
1) Isn’t it better for the environment to simply leave the dog poo. Doesn’t this provide nutrients for plants? Aside from the obvious, I mean stepping in crap, which is annoying of course.

2) Can’t there be a simplier solution, like have a special trough that dogs go into, near parks, with something that breaks down the the dog’s waste into something more useful.

3) Potentially, could all the dog waste be made into something useful like fuel, or fertilizer if collected properly.

dog poop bags

a few “top” dog food brands have corn in them. On the bag it states that same they all say, “It’s the best for your dog” What’s the best? Adding CORN as a temporary filler so the dog gets full then poops it back out and gains no nutrients from the food?
